Law 54 was officially accepted today, December 4th 2015, changing the status of animals from property to living sentient beings. While on paper this sounds like a step forward for animals, in reality, will animals be better treated? All agriculture and fur activites are excluded from the Bill, representing millions of animals in Quebec. There are many improvements to made to the Bill in order to truly insure that animals are respected as living, sentient beings with biological imperatives.
