Article from the Vegan in Montreal blog: Return on the first World Tofu Day
July 26 was a special day: it was the first ever World Tofu Day. To commemorate the event, the Society for the Protection of Animals (SPA) Canada organised an entirely vegan barbecue in the heart of downtown – and it was free!
There were a lot of people, and judging by T-shirts slogans, many participants were vegans. Of course, passers-by (on St. Catherine street) and people interested in veganism having heard of the event by word of mouth lined up for their dose of tofu.
Did you go to the barbecue? If not, did you eat tofu on Saturday? I greatly enjoyed the event organised by the SPA and I hope there will be a second edition next year. On site, there was also a Byrdsheese vegan cheese tasting and all participants could talk to nutritionist Anne-Marie Roy for advice.
