MAY, NATIONAL FUR COAT DONATION MONTH
Another successful pamphlet distribution session in May, as part of the National Fur Coat Donation Month!
This time we paraded in the Old Port of Montreal to show tourists that Canada is against the fur industry. We went to tell them that despite the few who lack compassion and take advantage of the suffering of animals to fill their pockets, most Canadians have their hearts in the right place and demand the end of the fur industry.
Dubarry has a security system that allows customers to come in. Would they be tired of being visited by activists who come to remind them that animals used for fur live miserably and are barbarically killed? Children’s slippers decorated with fur? Really? This is especially disturbing given that children grow up fast, thus rapidly outgrowing these slippers. Further, by decorating children’s clothing with fur, they are showing innocent children that it’s OK to torture animals for the sake of ‘fashion’.
Our team received a lot of support from the tourists during the event, who generously gave of their time to partake in in-depth discussions and enjoyed being educated on the topic. They even invited us to go for a beer with them, but our mission to represent animals and educate the public is far greater than the pleasure of a beer!
The store never received visitors prior to and after our visit. It must be boring to work there, this perhaps explains why the employee was constantly on her cell phone. Or was she learning about the horrors of the fur industry and finding out information about our next mobilization event? Hopefully, this was the case.
On the way back we met our furry friends: the horses. Seven carriages were on site and no one came for a ride during the time we were there. Your end is near, coaches! You will probably have some free time starting January 2020, here is a good idea to occupy your days: volunteer at the refuge Galaad, to pick up the droppings of your furry friends!
Please join us at our next pamphlet distribution on Thursday, May 16 from 12pm to 1 pm. Kindly contact us to find the location at 514-808-7330, or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
